A graveside service will be held Friday June 27, 2014 at 11:00AM at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk. In lieu of flowers,please make conributions in her memory to the Animal Welfare Society PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.

Pauline Joyce Aikman, 93, died at Seal Rock Healthcare in
Saco, ME on Monday, June 16th 2014. She was born on
January 13, 1921, in London, England, the daughter of Albert
Edward Laverick and Nellie Lady Pougher. Pauline
studied fashion design and art at the Chelsea School of Art
and the Reville School of Design in London, England.
She married Alexander Russell Aikman and they emigrated to
the United States, first living in Connecticut then moving
to Maine. Pauline was very creative and tried her hand at
many art forms over the years, including dress design,
sculpture and fine art. She was a member of the Maine
Women in the Arts for many years. As an illustrator,
Pauline produced advertising art for fashion magazines
during World War 2 in London. Over the years, Pauline
created many floral paintings for greeting card and gift
products. She was an avid sports fan, cheering for the New
York Nicks and the Boston Red Sox for many years.
loved beagles and will be missed by her dog Mimi.
Predeceased by her husband, brother John and sister
Miriam. She is survived by her son Gregory Aikman and
his wife Deborah and their children Alex and Andrew of Sharon, MA., daughters; Amanda Aikman and her partner Nancy Flowers of Everett, WA, and Geraldine Aikman of Kennebunk,
