Cremation Services, 13 Portland Road, Buxton. Rev. Patricia Keeler will officiate. A special thanks to the staff of the Barron Center for their exceptional and loving care.

Portland, Jack Lester Barr, age 87, of
Hollis Center, died Saturday afternoon at the Barron
Center. He was born in Selma, CA on July 8, 1927, the
son of Floyd Leroy and Gertrude Peak Barr.
Jack graduated from Hoover High School, San Diego, CA in
1945 and furthered his education at MiraCosta College,
Oceanside, CA earning an A.S. degree in Management in 1980.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as a pipefitter at University Heating and
Mechanical Company (UMEC) and Bechtel Corporation for many
years.
Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #365.
He was also a member and President of the UMEC Federal Credit Union and
President of the UMEC Management Club. Jack was also a member of the VIPs of the Cumberland County
Sheriff's Department. He was member of The Active Seniors Citizens of
Standish. He was a proud member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 230.
Jack enjoyed camping and hiking, gardening, swimming, music, RV
travel and reading.
He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his daughter Christine Lynn (Barr)
Allen and brother Robert Leroy Barr.
Survivors include his wife Jacqueline Eaton Barr, his son
Douglas Brent Barr, 3 daughters Robin Annette (Barr) Oswald,
Janice Marie (Roakes) Hubbell, Cathy Lynn (Cork) Baum and 3
grandchildren Jason Cork Baum, Eric Andrew Baum and Rachel Marie Kramp.
