A military graveside service will be held June 21, 2023 at 10:00 am at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, Saco is entrusted with his arrangements.

Obituary:
Brooks, ME – Paul Vincent Magnussen 82 passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Andre’s Health Care in Biddeford, ME on January 5, 2023. He was born in Boston on July 1, 1940, the son of Magnus and Violet Stoliday Magnussen. Paul was a proud graduate of Randolph High School. Upon graduation, Paul enlisted in the US Army and proudly served from 1958 – 1961.
Paul worked for over 38 years as a Gyro Technician at Draper Laboratory (formerly MIT Laboratory) in Cambridge. Paul was recognized and awarded for his contribution on the occasion of "The first manned landing on the moon, in the Sea of Tranquility, July 20th of the year 1969". Also recognized for his contributions in the "APOLLO Primary Guidance, Navigation and Control System," awarded by "Doc" (Doctor) Draper himself. Paul received other awards, such as the "TRIDENT Fleet Ballistic Missile Program," as well as "The Advancement in Micro Mechanical Engineering Division" just to name a few. Paul loved his job, as well as his colleagues.
Paul was a Brigade Leader at the Olivet Memorial Church in Brockton for many years. Paul enjoyed fishing immensely, singing in the Church choir, family vacations and spending time on Martha’s Vineyard.
Paul was predeceased by his brothers Elmer, Donald and Earl.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Lelita Magnussen of Brooks, ME, sons Karl Magnussen and his wife Gail of Arlington, MA and John Magnussen and his wife Lisa of Brooks, ME, a daughter Anita Reid of Crown Point, IN, his sister Karen Landers, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
