Obituary:
Windham – Steven Clarence Moody 62 passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House with his loving family by his side. He was born in Portland on November 18, 1960, the son of Clarence and Marie (Merry) Moody.
He was a graduate of Scarborough High School then served in the Army as a radio operator. After his service, he went to work for a short time as a fisherman and then installed insulation. He was passionate about his work as a long-haul truck driver for over 30 years. Steve had a deep love and appreciation for the open road and all the beauty this country has to offer. He worked for SPC Trucking for the past 8 years. A job he truly loved. Steve made friends all over the United States with his opening line “Where are you from?” Steve also enjoyed secretly paying it forward by buying strangers meals while on the road or at home. Days will not be the same without a phone call from him always ending in “I Love You”.
He also loved fly fishing, camping, football parties and was passionate about the time spent with family and friends. A good game of poker was also high on his list of things he loved to do!
Steven was predeceased by his parents and his brother Leslie “Les” Moody.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years Linda Peare, his son Derek Moody of Gorham, his daughters Danielle Lewis and her significant other Scott Keller, and Alexis Moody and her significant other Eric Orcelletto all of Gorham, his stepsons Raymond Peare and his wife Elyse of Cornish and Tanner Bowley of Windham, his sisters Dorothy Costa and Pamela Welch and her husband James, 6 grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Puppy and Bop: Destiny Lewis-Keller, Bentley Steven, Carter Peare, Logan Peare, Brielle Peare and Gracelynn Bowley, as well as nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 at 10am at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery, Old Blue Point Road Scarborough. Flowers or donations for the family can be sent to Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco for the service.
