Visitation Information:
A visiting hour will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 10-11am at the Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main Street, Saco followed by a memorial service at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Storey officiating. A procession to Laurel Hill Cemetery where military honors will be performed will conclude the service.

ln lieu of flowers a donation in his memory is suggested to be made to the Free Baptist Church, 213 Main Street, East Waterboro, ME 04030, Thornton Academy Alumni Association, 438 Main Street, Saco, ME 04072 or to Honor Flight Maine, P.O. Box 699, Brunswick, ME 04011.

Obituary:
Joseph Aurel Bourque, Sr. 91 passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023 at Atlantic Heights in Saco. He was born the eldest son of Dora Perreault and Philias Bourque in Biddeford in 1932. He attended Arundel Schools, St. Louis High School. He received his diploma from International Correspondence Course, for his Electrical education. He apprenticed under Mr. Ed Huff of Kennebunk, Maine prior to obtaining his State of Maine Master Electricians license.
Joe was a member of the Arion Lodge # 162 Masonic Order, life member of the VFW being a past Commander of Post # 489 VFW, American Legion and was affiliated with the Free Baptist Church of East Waterboro, Maine. He served his country proudly in the US Army, including the lnfantry Tank Co division in Korea and thereafter as a Platoon Staff Sergeant training troops in Kentucky.
He was the owner/operator of Arundel Electric Service for over 45 years, in his early years he had worked at area farms; as a logger for Gregoire Logging, he commercially raised cucumbers for Oxford Pickling and raised broiler hens for Cohen; he also worked at the Saco Tannery and retired from the Portsmouth Navy Yard where he was a Master Electrician. He was an avid gardener, who had a vegetable stand for many years on the Alfred Road in Arundel, Maine. He enjoyed spending time with his family including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed reading historical books and periodicals, enjoyed traveling to and visiting historic places, visiting botanical gardens, garden shows and bird watching, hunting and fishing, hiking in the White Mountains and Maine Parks.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, father and brothers Leo Paul and Roland, and brother-in-law Ralph Verrier. He is survived by his second wife of 55 years, Peggy, his daughters Linda Barter & her husband Warren, Judith Brooks, a daughter and several other sons from a previous marriage, his stepdaughter and caretaker: Lori Collin & her husband Jerry, a stepson David J. Thayer & his wife Irma, his sister, Pricilla Verrier, and brother Roger Bourque and his wife Nancy, his sister-in-laws Janice Bourque and Marjorie Sanborn, his Godson Robert (Bobby) Verrier and his wife Odette, former daughter-in-law Lisa Thayer, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandaughter, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
