Elizabeth Allen Elizabeth Caywood Allen - age: 93
(January 31, 1930 to August 26, 2023 )
Resident of Ocean Park, Maine

Obituary:
Elizabeth Ann Allen, 93, formerly of Weymouth Ave, Ocean Park died on Aug. 26 at the Seal Rock Healthcare facility after a period of declining health with her son John by her side.

Born in Boston, Mass. on Jan. 31, 1930, she was the daughter of Gano and Frances McDonald Caywood.

She met her husband, Maurice, while in nursing school in Keene, NH. They married in 1951 and raised their family in Ellington, Connecticut. They vacationed each summer in Ocean Park, Maine and retired to their cottage there in 1985. She loved playing shuffleboard, visiting the soda fountain and borrowing books from the “liberry” in town.

She took great delight in spending time with her grandchildren: spending time at the beach, playing shuffleboard, taking fun day trips, playing cards, and spending hours as co-pilot during driving lessons. She loved hosting her grandchildren for sleepovers and taking them on lunch dates around Southern Maine.

She loved seafood and was especially fond of the fried scallops from Huot’s Seafood in Camp Ellis and the mussels from Run of the Mill in Saco. She believed a glass of chardonnay a day was the best medicine for all of life’s ailments.

Elizabeth was a member of the Toilers, the Ocean Park Historical Society and the Red Hatters.

Strong-willed with a heart of gold, she loved to travel with her late husband and often spoke of their trips to Spain, San Francisco, and road tripping across the United States.

She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice, her parents, and many other friends and relatives. She is survived by her son, John Allen, her daughter-in-law, Jane and their children Paige, Jacob and Kayley. Also surviving is her son Arthur and his wife Joan of Connecticut and their children Chris & Sarah, and their families.

Graveside services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Maurice, at a later date.
